Full Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Thia – Ut Trinh Home Stay
8:00 Start from Saigon.
10:30 Arrive in Cai Thia; immediately board a boat to cross the river. It is merely a basic local boat station. The people can use the restroom on the boat.
10:40 When you get off the boat and cross the river to the other side, you may see a Cai Thia church in the area. After a short 15-minute walk, you will see several nearby brick kilns and the 19th-century My Luong temple.
11:00 Board the boat once more and spend a short time crossing a different river.
11:05 Arriving at the other side of the river 11:05, get off of the boat, go see a family who makes rice paper, and sample some sweet rice paper cake. This visit can take about 15 – 30 minutes.
11:30 then set out on a lovely 30-minute bike ride. There are photo stops available. Those who prefer a motorbike may do so at an additional expense.
12:00 Arrive at another family’s “banh tieu” production site, observe the process, and sample the tasty cake with green tea.
12:30 Ride the bicycle for a short distance.
12:40 At Hoa Loc market, board the boat once more and eat lunch there. Take a 45-minute boat ride among fruit orchards across the Mighty Mekong River, a tiny river. Visit the fruit orchard owned by Mr. Tam Ho (Mr. Tiger).
14:00 Board a tiny sampan and enjoy a leisurely row around the fruit orchard and small Luc Cu waterways.
14:15 Head to Ut Trinh homestay by strolling through narrow trails through villages and gardens.
14:30 Arrival to Ut Trinh Homestay. Enjoy being a farmer by fishing in a pond, gathering fruit from a tree (depending on the season), growing veggies, etc.
18:00 Cooking class at the vacation rental.
19:00 Savor the dinner you prepared. Stay the night at the house.
Day 2: Ut Trinh homestay – Cai Be – Ho Chi Minh City
Breakfast at the home stay.
8:00 A pleasant cycling journey through the villages to the Hoa Ninh market and back to the Ut Trinh homestay can be enjoyed after mounting the bikes.
9:30 Return to the homestay to recuperate and get your luggage.
* Those who don’t enjoy bicycling have another choice: they can stroll through the villages and then return to their homestay to meet the others.
10:00 Board the boat and sail to Cai Be.
11:00 Arrive in Cai Be and explore the floating market, as well as the many factories that produce rice paper, soy sauce, salt, popcorn, pop rice, and other snacks.
12:30 Drop off at Cai Be boat station.
13:00 Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City
16:00 Drop off at the hotel. End of tour.
